Description:
Until 1980 one did not normally associate the music of Robert Fripp of King Crimson fame with the word "fun". The studio album of the League of Gentlemen, his early 80s dance band, did little to change that perception. But a few years ago live tapes were exhumed; Fripp`s engineer David Singleton performed digital miracles on them. The result is nothing less than stupendous. Blistering guitar runs from Fripp, thundering bass from Sara Lee, fleet drumming from Johnny Toobad, and witty keyboards from Barry Andrews, who stuck a knife through them to get the sound he wanted. These instrumentals explore the common ground between dance music, punk, New Wave, and heavy metal. And lest I forget, they`re a helluva lot of fun.
