Sons Of Bill sing of small town dreamers and homesick travelers. And the opening track`s lyric of "Take me Back To The Time when the end of the world was the county line" says a lot about them. Imagine the tougher East coast cousins of I See Hawks In LA, though without the "cosmic" edge. The Virginian quartet is led by the songwriting talents of James Wilson, and his brother Sam on a few tunes, and the band shines with both smart and catchy lyrics. "Far Cry" is a tough and groovy Southern Rocker with banjo backed power chords and a ripping guitar solo. The muscle of this track gives way to the more introspective bit of acoustic Americana, "My Hometown", a fine example of the strong theme that runs through A Far Cry From Freedom. One wonders what heights they might reach once they`ve seen the world. -- Robinson, Miles Of Music (self-titled)
