The roots of Jason Quicksall`s demons are not evident. Based on his songs and the CD title he is trying to evolve. His smoky vocals and clear phrasing evoke the calm confessional of early Jackson Browne or Steve Forbert. His willingness to step out of the confines of folk-rock gives the album flavor and texture while maintaining solid song structure. The Columbus native`s second release shares melancholy and optimism. The production choice of putting his vocals way up front gives the intimate feeling that Quicksall is sitting right in front of you, telling tales of how he is trying to do better. He`s wiser but prone to the same temptations, something everyone can relate to. -- Jeff Weiss, Miles of Music (Bright Orange Records)
