His roots are the 70s California country rock of New Riders, Commander Cody mixed with a fair amount of Western Swing. He`s not influenced by those bands. He was one of those bands. Larry Hosford has more than a few miles on his music career odometer, having served in a semi-legendary psych band in San Francisco before relocating to Salinas, California, finding his voice and slightly askew viewpoint of the world. After scoring a deal with Shelter Records, he plied his trade as a contract songwriter before again settling back in California. Through all his journey, Hosford has maintained a particularly warped and entertaining worldview. High On Livin, originally started in 1987, came out of retirement 20 years later with a little touching up, but still sounding like it was recorded in the early 70s.
