Many an artist was inspired by the launch of the modern alt.country movement. A decade and a half after Uncle Tupelo forever changed the face of music. Alguire`s second solo album "As of Yesterday" possesses the same essence of muscularity countered with sensitivity that Tupelo was so adept at providing. Andrew Carver of The Ottawa Sun called "As of Yesterday," "A sure-handed country rock album in the vein of Steve Earle and Tom Petty... Alguire has found just the right voice for his tales of weary travelers and lonely wanderers." By any measure, the lineage from the roots of Bristol, Tennessee that ran through Illinois has turned north while it takes a run through Canada. -- Jeff Weiss, Miles of Music (self-released)
