Cheatin` Kind - Turned on Too Long
Description:

It`s A Cracker!! 100% Guaranteed!!

Rumblin` through the beer-gutted bowels of Hollywood is a bold band of rumbling spit kickers with a honky-tonk ball-buster leading the pack. Babs MacDonald is the lusty vocalist of The Cheatin` Kind - sassy and robust with a rockin` soul. While twang-touched for the most part there are two performances here from Babs - "Can`t Get Over You" and "I Do" - that remind one of Shocking Blue ("Venus") vocalist Mariska Veres with hints of Patty Smyth during here "Goodbye To You" era. MacDonald belts out one straight-up heartbreaker with a twist; one of her song contributions, "Johnny, Jack And Jim" - "the only boys that treat (her) right") - salutes those well know bottled buddies noted in the title. Many of the originals come from guitarist Paul Morris, and several covers are added for good measure. The Tammy Wynette hit "Your Good Girl`s Gonna Go Bad", Robbie Fulks` "She Took A Lot Of Pills (And Died)" and the Mel Tillis penned "Sweet Mental Revenge" all receive the roadhouse treatment, with the Wynette number almost hitting cowpunk speed. Capping off this bawdy set of rockin` twang is a tune that couples some old-time Texas boogie with a bit of the here and now. "Xanax" seems to offer an alternative to shock therapy and a bottle of Jack. (self-released)
