Front Parlour Ballads is a gorgeous collection of 13 new songs from Richard Thompson, performed mostly solo on acoustic guitar, with the occasional overdubbed acoustic or electric guitar. Percussionist Debra Dobkin accompanies him on a few selected tracks on this collection of all new original material. Thompson hasn`t released a proper solo acoustic album since 1981 (Strict Tempo!) and as he has performed mostly on his own in recent years, this is how fans are used to hearing him. His masterful guitar work, sonorous voice and bittersweet lyrics are displayed in a frill-free manner, exposing him for the amazing songwriter he is.
