Danny Kathriner did his tour of duty as a trap player for both St. Louis, Mo`s Wagon and alt. country super group Rockhouse Ramblers. Half Knots is his chance to shine. But not without the help of fellow Wagon-eer Chris E. Peterson and ex-Nadine member Todd Schnitzler, both of whom prove exceptional multi-instrumentalists. Kathriner`s timid and melancholic voice is perfectly mated to the acoustic-based tunes the trio crafts. There are moments of Jayhawks-style breeziness, and others that present a moody, rural-gothic feel, filled with sorrowful fiddle, dulcimers and mandolin -- downbeat but still hopeful.
