Black Water Gospel - Black Water Gospel (2005)
Description:

100% Guaranteed!!

You needn`t be filled with "the faith" to sing the gospel about anything. So don`t let the name mislead you. This is rockin` heartland music full of sweeping passion and rootsy charm. Recorded in the band`s home of Austin, TX, this self-titled disc was co-produced by the band and Grammy-Nominated Michael Ramos, who has worked with John Mellencamp and The BoDeans. It kicks off with a few tunes that are heavy on the Hammond organ, blending acoustic guitar and bristling electrics for a heartland rock vibe that lands somewhere in between Lucero and The Black Crowes. This intensity is offset by their ability to lay back and offer up the occasional acoustic tune or ballad, such as the gently swaying waltz "Take It All", which glows with underlying rock warmth. Singer/guitarist Juan Guiterrez has an earthy, gritty vocal that`s smoothed out by soulful curves, maintaining heartfelt conviction through rollicking folk ("Soul Searching") or powerhouse roots-rockers ("On The Road"). -- Robinson, Miles Of Music (Fat Caddy)
