Big Buildings - Water Everywhere
Description:

It`s A Cracker!! 100% Guaranteed!!

Chicago quartet Big Buildings have a post-punk indie sound that`s something of a throwback to a more winsome, slightly volatile time in rock`s new wave era. Quite telling are the initial comparisons that come across in the first three songs of Water Everywhere. "Submarine" has a Flamin` Groovies jangle-pop quality that also recalls early `80s southern alt. rock groups like R.E.M, The dB`s and Let`s Active. The Stones-y riff that sparks "Grease Fire" keeps it burning with swaggering gusto. The woozy and inebriated early-era Replacements feel of "Do You Lack Imagination?" compliments the rasped out vocal that leads the number in and through the rousing sing-a-long that is the chorus. Several of the songs have an "everybody sings" quality which is curiously inviting. Though by the time track four hits, you stop making any and all comparisons and stonily tap into their loose but fun energy. -- Robinson, Miles Of Music (Stars/No Stars)
