Word of these recordings has been circulating among Grayson Capps fans for years. Recorded in 2002 -- three years before his debut album If You Knew My Mind -- this magical, stripped-down session features only Grayson on acoustic guitar and his longtime friend Tom Marron on fiddle. Recorded at New Orleans 9th Street Pickin Parlor, Grayson let the tape roll, cutting the entire album in less than five hours. Appropriately titled Songbones, featured here are Graysons original renditions of songs like `Washboard Lisa,` `I Cant Hear You,` `Slidell,` and `Mermaid` that have since become staples in his repertoire. Also available for the first time are rarities like `Junior & The Old African Queen,` `Guitar,` and `Psychic Channel Blues.` Its a pristine recording that captures Graysons songwriting, voice and guitar-picking in all of its unadorned glory.
