Description:
M. Ward`s follow-up to the terrific End Of Amnesia is, at heart, a collection of songs rooted in Americana - folk, blues and tin-pan alley. Some tunes are simple and timeless, while others are run through dark filters, electrified, and thread with hints of underlying mystery. M. Ward`s hushed, somewhat raspy vocal provides for melancholy and despair while working every nuance. Surprisingly reworked, amid the unique original material here, is a lazy acoustic version of Bowie`s "Let`s Dance". Fans of Sparklehorse and Giant Sand should look into this. (Merge)
